's very unusual to see a forecast like this. >> new york city going to see 12 to 18 inches. more like a foot of snowfall expected for new york city. with places like new york, you're under blizzard warnings out towards long island and northward. we will see, we think, blizzard conditions as those winds really begin to kick up. especially tonight. maybe 40, 50 miles per hour to blow that snow around and limit your visibility down below a quarter of a mile for a long period of time. you're in the rain right now. mixed with sleet. it is snow toward the north and cooler air settling in, it is all going to turn to snowfall. we've given this a nine out of ten. that means we're going to find very widespread impacts here to the city. a mixture of snow and rain here today. probably those winds up to around 20 to 30 miles per hour. then tonight it really gets going. the snow will be on the increase with eight to 12 inches falling. blizzard conditions will prevail as those winds kick up, and those blizzard conditions lasting even into tomorrow as the snow tapers off will still see the wind blowi

, nine percent of the crime guns in the city of chicago could be traced to the state of mississippi. it is clear that we need a national solution. let me describe briefly that key features of this new legislation of assault weapons ban a 2013. the bill and the sale, transfer, and importation and manufacturing of 167 specifically named semi automatic assault weapons. it bans any other assault weapon, which is defined as semi automatic that can have a detachable 90s in. -- magazine. these features were developed for military weapons to make them more affect the of and efficient at killing people in close combat situations. the bill prohibits large capacity ammunition devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds. this is a crucial part of this legislation. these large magazines make a gun especially dangerous because they allow a shooter to fire 100 rounds are more without having to pause to reload. in many instances like the tragic shooting of congresswoman gabrielle giffords and tucson, arizona, it was only when the shooter had to change a magazine when or others have the chance

wednesday a big snowstorm in mid-march but not very often. 33 in new york city. 28 in columbus. much of our region has fallen below 33 degrees. make sure the kids are ready for a chilly morning. remember yesterday morning we were in the 40s. here is is a look at your satellite-radar and clouds increasing here. might be a little sunshine to start your day. the clouds will quickly move in. i think the shower activity will hold off until mid afternoon. probably 2:00, 3:00, it will start to move in. high temperatures expected to be in the low 40s. later tonight as the storm starts to push off the coast, it will be enough to draw enough cold air in from the north. we should see a transition start to take place north and west of washington. perhaps even washington and points to the east. thinking of you prince george's county out towards anne arundel county, you may see the transition to a little snow. here is your forecast for today. daytime highs in the low 40s with showers developing by early afternoon and again, we could see some snow tonight, perhaps some light accumulations. we'll talk more

and parents have been notified of what happened. city school police -- a teacher's aide at has been arrested for having sex with a 15-year-old student. after a weeklong investigation, we have more on that story. >> student at the school described the suspect as a nice person and can't understand how something like this would happen. according to charging documents, miller related to police issues having sexual relations with a 15-rolled boy at the school since december. >> student at north hartford heights school react to the arrest of an inclusion helper or teacher's aide at the school. the sheriff's deputies took the 35-year-old into custody on monday, a resting her at the school after a 15-year-old student told police the two had been having sexual relations. according to a charging document, miller and the victim started communicating in december of last year. their relationship involved sending naked pictures to each other via text and having sexual relations off-campus, mostly in her car. police got a tip about the inappropriate relationship that according to charging documents, miller
